GIMS — Geodetic Integrated Monitoring System

GIMS (Geodetic Integrated Monitoring System) is a Horizon 2020 project aimed at developing, validating and preparing for commercialisation an advanced, low-cost system for ground deformation monitoring.

Obiettivo

The system combined EGNSS data, Copernicus SAR imagery and in-situ sensors to monitor landslides, subsidence, and other hazardous ground movements, providing millimetric accuracy and near real-time alerts. The project addressed the need for timely and reliable geophysical information to support risk mitigation, infrastructure maintenance planning and environmental monitoring.

Beyond technological development, GIMS placed strong emphasis on dissemination, exploitation and business development, supporting the transition from a research prototype to an exploitable monitoring service.

Attività di NExT

ComoNExT, partner of the consortium, strongly supported the project coordinator (GReD) in overall project management, including administrative, financial and coordination activities.

Its contributions included communication and dissemination activities, requirements analysis and KPI definition (in cooperation with GReD), business plan updating, industrial development support, exploitation strategy definition and IPR management.

Through these activities, ComoNExT acted as a bridge between technological development and market uptake, reinforcing the project’s commercial and industrial perspective.
